August 9, 2015: A Chance to Help Save Another From Cancer

Both my younger sisters and I all tested positive for the BRCA2 mutated gene know as one of the cancer genes. In an attempt to keep from ever getting cancer, they have both opted for preventive hysterectomies and double mastectomies. My youngest sister, Roni, has already had her hysterectomy and has been scheduled to have her double mastectomy the end of September. My younger sister, Tammy, will be having her hysterectomy on Monday.

We ran some fundraisers for Roni to help pay for her surgeries and travel. We have now started fundraising for Tammy. There isn’t any assistance out there for patients choosing preventive procedures. Tammy is the sole provider for her family. She has 5 kids and will have to shell out money to cover two deductables because her surgeries will cross over into two “insurance years”. If you’re reading this, I’m asking for you to consider giving to her fund. No one should ever have to suffer from cancer. No mother should ever have to tell her children she has cancer.

You can access her fund HERE.  Thank you in advance!
